1. William Cooper (1861-1941)
William Cooper was an Aboriginal Australian political activist and community leader. Born in Yorta Yorta country near Moira Lakes in Victoria, he spent most of his life in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray, situated in the Moreland City area. Cooper fought for the rights of Indigenous Australians, establishing the Australian Aborigines' League in 1933. He is widely recognized for leading the historic Aboriginal protest known as the Day of Mourning on January 26, 1938, which marked the 150th anniversary of British colonization in Australia.
2. Benjamin Robert Kane (1894-1965)
Benjamin Kane was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
